You can easily transfer files between ZBrush for Desktop and ZBrush for iPad using a built-in plug-in called GoZ, which is included in ZBrush 2025 and newer.
Alternatively, since both versions of ZBrush use the same file formats, you can also transfer files without using GoZ via more traditional means (e.g. AirDrop, USB, etc.).
Transferring ZBrush files using GoZ
ZBrush versions 2025 and newer include GoZ, which allows you to easily send or receive files between ZBrush on your desktop and ZBrush on your iPad.
This function requires:
- Using the same network on both devices. Ensure the name of the Wifi network both devices are connected to is identical (i.e. not using a 5GHz signal for one and a 2.5GHz signal for the other).
- The Maxon App installed on the desktop machine. The GoZ connection is made through the Maxon API, which requires the Maxon App. Since GoZ requires a Maxon subscription (either ZBrush or Maxon One), and all Maxon subscriptions require the Maxon App, this is likely already installed.
- Properly configured network components. This includes firewalls, security software, or any middlemen components that might limit connections between two devices on your network. Should you need help troubleshooting your network configuration, consult with whatever parties provided your network components (e.g. network admin, antivirus vendor, etc.), as they will have more direct support resources than Maxon would have as a third party.
- Windows: Ensure ZBrush is set as an approved app in Windows Defender. You'll need to do this for both Inbound and Outbound options.
Transferring ZBrush files without using GoZ
ZBrush uses the same file format between its desktop and mobile versions, which means you can also use any method you're familiar with to transfer files between machines including USB cables, cloud storage, AirDrop (Mac only), etc.
