(Premiere) Why aren’t my unsynced clips colored?

If the “Display the project item name and label color for all instances” setting in the Premiere Pro project settings is enabled, the color set for a clip in the Project tab will override the color set by PluralEyes.  This option appears at the bottom of the Project Settings, General tab as illustrated below (it also appears in the New Project dialog). To ensure that unsynced clips are colored, do the following:

  1. In PluralEyes 4 panel gear menu or in the export dialog, turn on the "Color unsynchronized clips" option
  2. In Premiere Pro, go to File > Project Settings > General and uncheck the "Display the project item name and label color for all instances" option
  3. Sync again
