Some macOS systems with ProMotion (variable refresh rate) can exhibit Cinema 4D viewport issues. Switching the display refresh rate to 60 Hz can sometimes resolve the problem.

Fix: Set the display to 60 Hz

  1. Open System Settings > Displays (macOS Ventura and newer) or System Preferences > Displays (Monterey and earlier).
  2. Find Refresh Rate and change it from ProMotion to 60 Hertz.
  3. Restart Cinema 4D and test the viewport.

Notes

  • Not all Macs support ProMotion. If you do not see a Refresh Rate option, this article likely does not apply to your system.
  • On laptops, you may need to click Advanced… or More Settings to reveal the Refresh Rate menu.

Still need help?

If the issue persists after changing the refresh rate, please contact support and include your macOS version, Mac model, display model, and a short screen recording of the issue.
