Why can't I see Cinema 4D thumbnails on my Windows computer?

If Windows thumbnails for Cinema 4D files are missing or broken, registering win_thumbnail.dll usually resolves it.

Here is how:

1. Open the Cinema 4D installation folder and navigate to C:\Program Files\Maxon\Cinema 4D RXX or 20XX\resource\libs\win64. Locate win_thumbnail.dll.
   
    
2. Copy win_thumbnail.dll to C:\Windows\System32.
   
    
3. Open Command Prompt as Administrator: click the Windows icon, type cmd, right‑click Command Prompt, and choose Run as administrator.
   
    
4. Register the DLL by running:
