Each section below explains how to release and then switch to a different license type in the Maxon App.

Over the years, we’ve made improvements to this process, so below we’ve included multiple sections based on these different versions. This ensures you have the right steps for the version you’re using.

*Important Update About Trial Licenses*

  • Trial licenses cannot be released, transferred, or assigned to another machine. Once activated, they are permanently tied to the computer where it was activated.
  • A trial license will not override an active commercial license. For example, if you have a Cinema 4D license assigned and want to try Maxon One, you must first release the Cinema 4D license so you can use the Maxon One trial license.
  • All other license types still include the option to Release, Assign, and **Transfer as needed.
**Transferring licenses was added in the 2025.0.0 version of the Maxon App.
