ZBrush Installer Doesn't Start

We have seen a few cases where the installer simply refuses to run for a user, yet downloading a fresh copy of the installer did not help.

If this happens to you, this will be due to a third-party application on your computer getting in the way.  Here are examples that we know of:

  • Many antivirus programs don't know that our installers are safe and so prevent it from running properly.  In some cases, they can even deliberately corrupt the installer as it is downloading.  Please temporarily disable your antivirus software (including Windows Defender) before trying again.  Leave it disabled until you have launched ZBrush for the first time.
  • Do you have Wacom software installed but no Wacom hardware currently connected?  If so, please either reconnect your Wacom hardware or end the tablet service.
  • Are you a Korean user, or is your machine made by Samsung?  If so, look for a program called Fasso DRM and remove that.  This is a browser addon for Internet Explorer (which of course is not even supported anymore).  Somehow, it interferes with the ZBrush installer.

Maxon license users: After you have done this, try running the installer from the Maxon App again.  Alternatively, you can bypass the Maxon App and download the installer from the Downloads page at My.Maxon.net. You will still need the Maxon App to be installed on your computer, however.

Legacy Perpetual license users: Download the installer again from My Licenses
