If you see a black box appearing behind your cursor while using ZBrush on Windows, this is typically caused by a Windows accessibility or cursor customization setting rather than a ZBrush issue.
ZBrush performs best with the default Windows cursor settings.
Please follow the steps below:
Windows 11
Open Settings.
Go to Accessibility.
Select Mouse pointer and touch.
Set the Mouse pointer style to White.
Adjust the Size slider to the smallest setting.
Close Settings and restart ZBrush.
Windows 10
Open Settings.
Go to Ease of Access.
Select Cursor & pointer.
Set the pointer color to White.
Reduce the pointer size to the smallest setting.
Close Settings and restart ZBrush.
Important
If the cursor size is increased or a custom color scheme is used, Windows may render a background box behind the pointer, which can appear as a black square inside ZBrush.
After restoring the default white pointer at the smallest size, relaunch ZBrush and verify that the issue is resolved.
If the problem persists, please include your Windows version and GPU model when contacting support.
