How Can I Back Up the Tools that I'm Using With GoZ?

Whenever you use GoZ to send models between ZBrush and a supported external application, temporary and working files are created in the GoZ Projects folder.

In current Maxon versions of ZBrush, the GoZ Projects folder is located in:

Windows
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Maxon\GoZProjects\

macOS
/Users/Shared/Maxon/GoZProjects/

Legacy Pixologic Versions

Windows
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Pixologic\GoZProjects\

macOS
/Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZProjects/

These folders contain the intermediate files used by GoZ to transfer geometry, textures, and scene data between applications.

Backup Recommendation

If you are planning to reinstall ZBrush, change systems, or perform a clean installation, it is strongly recommended that you back up the GoZProjects folder first.

Backing up this folder ensures that any in-progress transfers or linked project data are preserved and can be restored if needed.

Simply copy the entire GoZProjects folder to a safe location before uninstalling or reinstalling ZBrush.

After reinstalling, you can restore the folder to the same location if necessary.
