Why don't I see the newly added Boolean tool after updating to Cinema 4D 2025.1.0?

Problem:
This may be due to using a custom layout created in a version of Cinema 4D prior to the addition of the new tool or feature that is missing.

Explanation:

Cinema 4D preferences, where custom layouts are stored, are not affected by updates. For example, updating from Cinema 4D 2025.0.2 to Cinema 4D 2025.1.0 will retain the same preferences, as they are not modified during incremental updates. However, major updates (e.g., from Cinema 4D 2023 to 2024) will create a new set of preferences.

Using the Boolean tool added in Cinema 4D 2025.1.0 as an example, if you created a custom layout in Cinema 4D 2025.0.2 or earlier, the Boolean tool will not be available because it did not exist when the custom layout was made.

Testing:

To verify this is the issue, switch from your custom layout to the Standard layout and check if the new tools are available.

If the new tools are available in the Standard layout, this confirms that the custom layout created in a previous version is the issue.

Solution:
Fortunately, you do have a quick and simple option when it comes to adding the new tools to your custom layout so you do not have to rebuild the custom layout from scratch:

1. Open the commander by hitting Shift+C, search for the Boolean tool or whichever new tool is missing, drag n' drop the new tool onto the UI from the commander, and resave the layout.

2. Download the included pallet.l4d file located at the bottom of this page; right-click on your Cinema 4D UI, choose Load Palette..., and locate the pallet.l4d file you downloaded, and click Open.

Next, right-click on your Cinema 4D UI and choose Customize Palettes...  This will open the Command Manager in edit mode. Once in edit mode, you can drag n drop the palette icon onto your UI and save the layout. Once complete, close the command manager to turn off edit mode.

Bonus tip - you can remove the old pallet that does not include the new tools by double-clicking on the icon while in edit mode.
