Cinema 4D

Operating Systems

  • Windows
    • Windows 10 64-bit v22H2 or higher - or Windows 11
    • Intel 64-bit CPU or AMD 64-bit CPU with AVX2 Support
    • Memory:  16 GB, recommended 24 GB
  • macOS
    • OS 13.6+ (Ventura), 14.5 (Sonoma), or 15.0 (Sequoia)
    • Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4 or Intel-based CPU with SSE4.2 support
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM, recommended 24 GB
    • MXAI Requires Apple Silicon
  • Linux Command-Line Rendering
    • 64-bit Linux Distribution with glibc 2.28 or later

Recommended minimum resolution of 1920x1080

Graphics Cards

  • Windows
    • Minimum: NVIDIA Maxwell GPU, AMD Polaris (AMD GCN 4), Intel Kaby Lake or newer supporting DirectX 12 with feature level 11.0
    • Minimum GPU Driver: NVIDIA 495, AMD 24Q3 or newer, Intel 31.0.101.2128 or newer
  • macOS
    • Metal: v2 (Mac2) or higher or Apple 7 (M1) or higher (see about this Mac → System report → Graphics/Displays)
    • GPU: only official supported hardware by Apple (with Metal v2 or higher)
    • e-GPU: only official supported hardware.
  • Additional Notes:
    • Redshift GPU support isn't available for Intel GPUs or for older AMD graphic cards. In these cases however the Redshift CPU backend allows you to still render your scene.
    • Although Cinema 4D supports all DirectX 12 feature level 11.0, we recommend using a dedicated 3D graphics card with an AMD or NVIDIA chip set with at least 4 GB VRAM (8 GB or more recommended).
    • For Intel or AMD machines with integrated GPUs we recommend 16 GB of RAM or more due to integrated GPUs using up to the half of the computer's available RAM.
    • On macOS machines prior to Apple Silicon a discrete Metal 2-capable GPU is recommended.
    • Maxon is not responsible for the compatibility of individual graphics cards with the DirectX 12 or Metal mode. Due to the large number and types of available chip sets, operating systems and driver versions we cannot guarantee the compatibility of all systems.
    • Please make sure that to use the most current, official, non-beta graphics card driver.
    • We test the compatibility of our products with the driver and OS versions available at the time of the announcement of a new Cinema 4D release and focus on typical mid-range to high-end systems and basic coverage on low-end (min. requirements) systems. Additionally, we try to keep up with hardware, driver, and OS updates as soon as they are released.

Nevertheless, please understand that we cannot guarantee support of new hardware and operating systems shipped after the announcement of this Cinema 4D version.

Forger

  • iOS
    • iOS 15 or later
  • Devices
    • iPad Pro or current model iPad
  • Notes
    • The more complex the model being sculpted, the more RAM required. While there is no screen size requirement, as anticipated the bigger the better when it comes to sculpting workspace.

For customers wanting to use Redshift in ZBrush, macOS Ventura (13.3+) is the minimum required version (see. RS system specs) that's needed for execution. Older macOS version as suggested in our "Highly recommended specifications" will either not work reliably or not at all.

If you are looking for a computer optimized for ZBrush, these are the key elements to keep in mind:

  • ZBrush runs the same on Macintosh and Windows. Choosing one or the other is a personal choice.
  • A fast processor with multiple cores is a key item because ZBrush is only CPU based. The more powerful, the better.
  • You must have enough memory to handle the system and other background applications in addition to ZBrush itself. If your intent is to create complex models with many millions of polygons, aim for at least 16 GB of RAM and a 64-bit version of your OS.
  • ZBrush is highly optimized and writes a large number of temporary files in order to ensure fast performance. Depending on your model, this can quickly reach several GB of data. An SSD drive for ZBrush and its virtual memory files will provide the best results. You can save costs by having an additional mechanical drive to save your work on.
  • A Wacom (or compatible) pen tablet with a preference for professional models will provide you a better accuracy in your brush strokes and increase the artist feeling. We do not recommend tablets based on N-Trig technology, which is an entirely different protocol and not fully compatible with ZBrush.
