Why I am getting errors ''Exception during renderer creation ()'' and ''Failed to create a cache path in default location'' on macOS after installing C4D 2025.1.0 and RS 2025.2.0?

Two Possible Problems:

1. You've enabled Rosetta for Cinema 4D.

2. If your user does not have full permissions on macOS, you may experience an issue installing Redshift as permissions on the cache folder may not be set correctly and you may receive an error message like the one below:

Two Possible Solutions:

1. Disable Rosetta

To do this right-click on the Cinema 4D app, choose "Get Info" and uncheck "Open using Rosetta" if it is checked.

2. Delete the Redshift Cache folder.

  1. Shutdown Cinema 4D
  2. Delete the Users > USERNAME > redshift > cache folder
  3. Delete the Users > USERNAME > library (*hidden) > preferences > Maxon > Maxon Cinema 4D 202*_******** > redshift > cache folder

Once the cache folders have been deleted, relaunch Cinema 4D and see if the issue has been resolved.

If that does not work we then recommend reinstalling Cinema 4D 2025.1 which includes Redshift 2025.2.

  1. Follow the FAQs below to uninstall the latest split version of Cinema 4D and Redshift:
-How to uninstall Cinema 4D on macOS?
    -Uninstall Redshift on macOS

  2. Then simply reinstall Cinema 4D 2025.1.0 via the Maxon App or download the standalone installer from HERE.

Once the process is complete,
You should no longer receive the error and your Cinema 4D and Redshift should run smoothly.
